Rocky Statue

The link above contains information about the famous statue of Rocky. The statue weighs one thousand, two hundred pounds and stands all of twelve feet and eight inches tall. The statue was placed outside of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2006. The previous home of the statue was outside the Wachovia Spectrum in South Philadelphia. The statue was created by A. Thomas Schomberg and stood as a symbol for the accomplishments that were shown by Sylvester Stallone in the movie, Rocky.

Still trying to workout the words on top of the images to make them appear brighter, perhaps a different logo would workout better. I am still trying to adjust this, it is a work in progress.

Statues in Philadelphia

I chose to do statues in Philadelphia.  I figured it would be a good chance to explore the city for artwork as well as an educational experience.  I was inspired when I was on my way to south street and passed quite a few that were extremely stunning.

My Life at Moore

Living, eating, and working at Moore has certainly been a change for me. A typical day for me used to include working long hours, sleeping in late, and being almost too familiar with all of my surroundings. I am a typical girl from Ocean City, Maryland. Normal activities to include waiting tables, going out with friends, laying on the beach, and basically living day to day. It sounds like it would be a fantastic lifestyle but it was not what I wanted my life to be like.

Two years ago I decided I wanted to be an interior designer. I did not even know where to begin. The Art Institute & Gallery in Salisbury, Maryland introduced me to a Moore Alumni, Marcia Cupschalk. Since that point I started taking private lessons from her and have learned more than I could have ever anticipated. Although I had mentally prepared myself for a very long time it was still very overwhelming. I had gone from having an entire house to myself to having a small room, from being in a very small town to being in a rather large city, from preparing all my meals to having everything made for me at scheduled times.

Some of the changes I have endured as of yet have been challenging but I absolutely love being here and I can't wait to see, learn, and do more. All of my instructors seem to be very helpful and extremely enthusiastic about what they do. It is nice to be apart of an institution with so much pride and furthermore creativity. I can only hope I will perform to the best of my ability and take everything I learn with me.
